Gran Sasso - Laga
The Gran Sasso dominates over everything, but if you take a look around, your eyes will fall upon the Laga range, and you will fall in love with it. Rural area of foothills and mountains, rich in villages and forests, and starting point for hiking and climbing excursions. Anyone wishing to follow this route will find, among the local products, pecorino cheeses (in the Laga and Val Vomano); Teramo ventricina, with a creamy consistency, seasoned and slightly spicy (Crognaleto); and other extraordinary salamis. This area is home to IGP certified Marchigiana breeding, and high quality lamb can be found. Among the gastronomic specialties, we point, among other things, to bocconotti and sweet pizza (Montorio al Vomano and Isola del Gran Sasso). But the emerging art is extraordinary as well: from the painted stone of Pietracamela, to the glorious centuries-old story of the pottery of Castelli, to a place of worship among the most important in Europe: St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows.
